The Askar 65PHQ refractor telescope uses five-element apochromatic optics with two ED glass elements and a central element made from Ohara FPL53 Super APO glass. The optical surfaces have multiple coatings, while the fully flat 44 mm field allows the use of full-frame sensors without an additional corrector or field flattener. It has a focal length of 416 mm and an f/6.4 focal ratio.

Its CNC-machined aluminum construction includes a 3" Rack & Pinion focuser with a 1:10 reduction ratio and a 360° rotator. Designed for astrophotography, it can also be used with an optional 0.7x reducer, which provides a focal length of 290 mm and an f/4.9 focal ratio.
