Description

The Celestron StarSense Explorer™ LT 80AZ is a refractor telescope that stands out because it uses your smartphone technology to guide you through the night sky. It is ideal for beginners who want to find planets and constellations without needing extensive astronomy knowledge.

StarSense Technology

Its main advantage is the StarSense Explorer application. You place your mobile phone in the special slot, the app analyzes the stars above you (through your phone's camera), and accurately calculates your position. Then, it displays arrows on the screen that guide you exactly to the point where you should aim the telescope.

Specifications

  • Optical Design: Refractor with a diameter of 80mm. Provides clear and bright images of the Moon and planets.

  • Focal Length: 900mm ($f/11$), which helps achieve high magnifications.

  • Mount: Manual altazimuth (AZ) with a fine-tuning lever for smooth movement.

Advantages

The StarSense Explorer series offers amateur astronomers a new way to observe the starry sky. Forget complicated star maps, inaccurate planetarium-type apps, and expensive automated mounts.

With Celestron StarSense Explorer telescopes, finding celestial objects is easier and faster than ever. Place your smartphone in the special mount located on the optical tube and launch the StarSense Explorer app. Once the smartphone is aligned with the telescope, a process that takes only a few minutes, you will have all the wonders of the night sky at your fingertips.

Select the object you want from those above the horizon at that time and simply follow the instructions on your smartphone screen, so that by appropriately turning your telescope, you center that celestial object, whether it is the Moon, a planet, a galaxy, or a nebula. Then, all you have to do is look through the eyepiece.

Unlike all the systems available on the market, including astronomical apps, the patented StarSense Explorer system automatically recognizes the precise orientation of the telescope in the sky with the help of the brightest stars.

How does object locating work? Choose the object you want to observe from the list suggested by the StarSense Explorer app. The app will show you where to manually point the telescope.

Point the telescope following the instructions. Center the object. Now you can begin observing.

The Celestron StarSense Explorer is compatible with most smartphones on the market. You simply follow the instructions on your smartphone screen to enjoy some of the most beautiful objects in the night sky. Even if you are observing from an urban area, you will have access to many of these objects, including the planets and the Moon, the Andromeda galaxy, the Orion nebula, star clusters, and many more. The package includes the optical tube, the mount, an adjustable height tripod with accessory tray, two eyepieces, a red dot finder, and a diagonal star diagonal.

Contents:

  • 25mm and 10mm lenses
  • 2x Barlow
  • StarSense Smartphone Mount
  • Red Dot Finder
  • Diagonal Mirror
