The watch is top-notch. I bought the Fenix 8 Titanium & Sapphire with the AMOLED screen, as an upgrade from the very reliable Instinct Solar 2X.
POSITIVES:
- Battery lasts 10 days with almost daily activity (half to one hour of exercise, mixed GPS use during exercise). On holidays when I don't do many activities, it can last 15-17 days.
- The accuracy of the measurements is excellent. Multiband GPS that is accurate to the meter, heart rate, steps, etc. Everything is very precise. I have cross-checked the measurements with other Garmin Monitors and the watch doesn't miss at all.
- BUILT-IN maps. Its biggest advantage for me. Global maps, loaded OFFLINE on the watch, so you can take your walk or run on trails without even using your phone. The maps are fully updated, they even have sidewalks and small mountain paths.
- The built-in powerful flashlight is a game changer.
- In general, the metrics it has for exercise and physical health are very useful and understandable, but also detailed. I use it for running and all the metrics related to sleep, rest, workout load, recovery time, etc. are accurate. If you follow them, you will get good results.
- Finally, microphone and speaker, so you can answer and talk on calls from the watch (only as long as it is within range of the phone, the watch does not have GSM on its own).
NEGATIVES:
It's hard to find negatives, but there are some points that could be improved:
- The mobile application could be a bit more user-friendly and easy. You need to search a bit to find what you want. It has everything and it's there, but hidden.
- The construction of the Fenix 8 allows for diving, and the use of its buttons up to 50m depth. That's why they have changed the technology of the physical side buttons to be completely waterproof. This makes them a bit hard to press. If you come from any other watch with physical buttons, you will notice it immediately. You get used to it after a while, but even now after 1.5 years, 1 out of 10 times I press the button and it doesn't register. Ok, you can live with that...
- If you are looking for a smart watch (with emphasis on smart...), then its smart features will not satisfy you. Don't expect to send messages, see Instagram, etc. from the watch. Nothing like Apple Watch. The Fenix is an ACTIVITY watch.
If you plan to spend the 1000+€ for something you will enjoy and that won't let you down, the Fenix is a dream! Buy it if you want it for activities, to track your running/cycling/swimming, if you want to hike with fully offline maps in your hand, without worrying if your phone has battery, if you want to train for a marathon or something similar.
Don't buy it if you want to see your Insta on the watch, reply to messages, view photos and things like that...
Το ρολοι ειναι κορυφαίο. Αγόρασα το Fenix 8 Titanium & Sapphire με την AMOLED οθονη, ως αναβαθμιση απο το τιμιοτατο Instict Solar 2X.
ΘΕΤΙΚΑ:
- Μπαταριά 10 μέρες με σχεδόν καθημερινή δραστηριοτητα (μισή με μία ώρα άσκηση, ανάμεικτη χρήση GPS στην ασκηση). Στις διακοπές που δεν κανω πολλές δραστηριότητες, θα βγάλει και 15-17 μέρες.
- Οι ακρίβεια των μετρήσεων είναι άριστη. Multiband GPS που πιανει με ακρίβεια μέτρου, καρδιακοί παλμοί, βήματα κλπ.. Όλα πολυ σωστά. Εχω διασταυρώσει τις μετρήσεις και με άλλα Garmin Monitors και το ρολοι δεν χανει καθολου.
- BUILD-IN χάρτες. Το μεγαλύτερο του πλεονέκτημα για εμένα. Παγκόσμιοι χάρτες, φορτωμένοι OFFLINE πανω στο ρολόι, για να κανεις τον περίπατο ή το τρέξιμο σου στα μονοπάτια χωρις χρήση καν κινητού. Οι χάρτες πλήρως ενημερωμένοι, έχει μέχρι και τα πεζοδρόμια και τα μικρα μονοπάτια στα βουνά.
- Ο ενσωματωμένος δυνατός φακός ειναι game changer.
- Γενικά τα metrics που έχει για άσκηση και σωματικη υγεία ειναι πολυ χρήσιμα και κατανοητά, αλλά και αναλυτικα. Το χρησιμοποιώ για τρέξιμο και όλα τα metrics που αφορουν ύπνο, ξεκούραση, workout load, χρονο αποθεραπείας κλπ ειναι σωστά. Αν τα ακολουθεις δηλαδη, θα εχεις καλο αποτελεσμα.
- Επιτέλους μικρόφωνο και ηχείο, για να απαντας και να μιλας σε κλησεις απο το ρολόι (μόνο οσο ειναι σε εμβελεια με το κινητο, δεν εχει GSM το ρολοι μονο του).
ΑΡΝΗΤΙΚΑ:
Δυσκολα θα βρεις αρνητικα, καποια στοιχεια ομως που παίρνουν βελτίωση:
- Το mobile application θα μπορουσε να ειναι λιγο πιο φιλικο και ευκολο. Θελει λιγο ψάξιμο να βρεις αυτά που θες. Τα έχει ολα και ειναι εκει, αλλα κρυμμένα
- Η κατασκευη του Φενιξ 8 του επιτρέπει κατάδυση, και χρήση των κουμπιών του μέχρι 50μ βάθος. Γι αυτο και εχουν αλλάξει την τεχνολογια των φυσικών πλαινών κουμπιών ωστε να ειναι πληρως αδιάβροχα. Αυτο τα κανει λιγο δυσκολα στο πάτημα. Αν έρχεσαι από οποιοδήποτε άλλο ρολόι με φυσικά κουμπιά, θα το καταλάβεις αμέσως. Το συνηθίζεις μετά από λίγο καιρό, αλλά ακομα και τώρα που το έχω 1.5 χρόνο, 1 στις 10 φορες θα πατησω το κουμπι και δεν θα πιασει. Οκ, ζεις και με αυτο...
- Αν ζητας smart watch (με εμφαση στο smart..) τοτε τα smart features του δεν θα σε ικανοποιησουν. Μην περιμενεις να στελνεις μηνυματα, να βλεπεις το instagram κλπ απο το ρολοι. Καμια σχεση με Apple Watch. Το Fenix ειναι ACTIVITY watch.
Αν σκοπευεις να διαθεσεις το 1000+€ για κατι που θα το ευχαριστηθεις και δεν θα σε προδωσει, το Φενιξ ειναι ονειρο!
Αγορασε το αν το θες για δραστηριοτητες, για να μετρας το τρεξιμο / ποδηλατο / κολυμπι σου, αν θες να κανεις hike με offline αρτιους χαρτες στο χέρι, χωρις να σε νοιαζει αν εχει το κινητο μπαταρια, αν θες να κανεις προπονηση για ενα μαραθωνιο ή κατι αντιστοιχο.
Μην το αγορασεις, αν θες να βλεπεις στο ινστα σου στο ρολοι, να απαντας σε μηνυματα, να βλεπεις φωτογραφιες και αλλα τετοια..
