Tasting characteristics: This is a wonderfully rich and complex single malt whisky. It opens with rich and spicy aromas of crème brûlée, heather honey, and crushed cinnamon. Intense fruity notes follow, such as fresh pineapple dressed with a hint of sunlit lemon zest.
To create the 15-year-old Viking Heart, Gordon Motion, Master Whisky Maker, selected European oak barrels mainly seasoned with sherry, offering warm, spicy notes, as well as American flavor oak barrels with sherry for a balance of sweet vanilla. By expertly adding only a few refill barrels to soften and smooth the flavors, Gordon decided to bottle at 44% ABV, allowing the vibrant fruity taste of the whisky and the subtle peat smoke to shine.
