Emmanuela Maranti has never been a carefree child. She was always at the heart of the family storms she faced, overcoming each impasse by running away. So, after a powerful emotional shock, she ends up in a monastery in Epirus, far from the world, seeking God’s peace so she can finally leave the shadows of the past behind.
At the same time, Nicholas Karalis, a lieutenant in the Criminal Investigations Directorate, is called upon to protect Emmanuela from the murderous fury of an unknown psychopath known as the Killer with the Black Roses, who seems determined to continue his deadly rampage until he reaches her. Nicholas and Emmanuela become the protagonists of an adventure set against a backdrop of terror, as the countdown begins to the swan song of a soul shattered by madness and depravity.
Meanwhile, they are forced to confront their painful pasts and unexpected present, which turn them by turns into allies and enemies. As deadly secrets emerge from their hiding places, they must answer, breathlessly, the greatest dilemma of all: united amid the chaos, or soloists in a performance with an uncertain ending?
