The Echinodorus Osiris is an impressive live aquarium plant with a red color originating from Brazil. It consists of tall, broad leaves and thrives in conditions offering a nutrient-rich substrate, which accelerates its growth. In case of micronutrient deficiency, the new leaves appear pale, making fertilization of the plant necessary.
It is a low-maintenance plant that withstands a wide range of water conditions. The red color of the leaves develops more intensely with higher light intensity and is not eaten by herbivorous fish. It is cultivated out of water.
- Position in the aquarium: Placed towards the middle to the back of the aquarium due to its increased height and width.
- Planting: Normally planted in the substrate or sand of the aquarium. In case of lack of substrate, a fertilizing tablet can be used near its roots.
- Pruning/Propagation: Pruned if it grows too much. Propagates through runners that spread in the aquarium with a good substrate.
