The Sony Cinema Line FX5 (ILME-FX5B) revolutionizes professional cinematic creation, combining the top-tier aesthetics of CineAlta cameras with the ultimate flexibility of a compact body. Equipped with the innovative full-frame stacked Exmor RS 5K sensor, the BIONZ XR2 processor with AI unit, as well as internal 16-bit X-OCN RAW recording and Open Gate 3:2 capability, the FX5 redefines the boundaries of production. The package includes the ergonomic XLR handle for professional 32-bit float audio recording, offering documentary, commercial, and cinematic creators a fully equipped, standalone high-performance tool.

Stacked Full-Frame 5K Sensor & BIONZ XR2 Processor with AI

At the core of the Sony FX5 lies the new, fully stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS full-frame 5K sensor, which offers exceptionally fast data readout, minimizing the rolling shutter effect. Combined with the next-generation BIONZ XR2™ processor and the integrated artificial intelligence (AI) processing unit, the camera delivers top-tier Real-time Eye AF autofocus with recognition of humans, animals, and birds through 759 phase-detection points, as well as ultra-precise automatic white balance (ATW) even in the most demanding lighting conditions.

Internal Recording 16-bit X-OCN RAW & Open Gate Mode

For the first time in the Cinema Line FX series, the FX5 introduces internal recording of Open Gate (3:2) 5K up to 120 fps, fully utilizing the sensor surface for absolute freedom in reframing and delivery in multiple aspect ratios. It supports internal recording of compressed 16-bit RAW X-OCN (LT, C1, C2) without the need for an external recorder, while offering the capability to shoot 4K up to 240 fps for impressive slow-motion footage.

Dynamic Range 15+ Stops, Triple Base ISO & Dual Gain

Designed to easily handle the most demanding lighting conditions, the FX5 offers an impressive dynamic range of 15+ stops with exceptionally low noise levels in the shadows. It features Triple Base ISO technology (ISO 800 / 4000 / 12800), allowing for crystal-clear images in any environment, while the Dual Gain technology maximizes sensor performance, providing natural, smooth gradations and absolute flexibility during color grading.

Color Science S-Cinetone, S-Log3 & Built-in Anamorphic Desqueeze

The FX5 incorporates Sony's leading color science S-Cinetone™ for natural, cinematic skin tone rendition straight out of the camera, as well as S-Gamut3 / S-Gamut3.Cine profiles for perfect color matching with VENICE 2 cameras. It offers three shooting modes S-Log3 (Cine EI, Cine EI Quick, Flexible ISO) with support for up to 16 user LUTs. Additionally, it features built-in anamorphic lens de-squeeze functionality (1.3x, 1.5x, 1.6x, 1.8x, 2.0x) for immediate on-set monitoring.
