Instructions for proper use of dental floss:

• Cut a piece of dental floss about 50 centimeters long and wrap most of it around one of your middle fingers.
• Wrap the remaining floss around the same finger of the other hand.
• Hold the floss tightly between the index fingers and thumbs of each hand, leaving a length of about 5 centimeters between the two hands. Gently pass the floss between your teeth. The floss should not move abruptly.
• When the floss reaches the free edge of the gums, shape it like the letter C while keeping it against the surface of the tooth.
• Keep the floss in contact with the tooth. Gently rub the surface of the tooth, while removing the floss from between the teeth. If you are cleaning between your teeth for the first time, your gums may bleed for about 5 days. If the bleeding continues, visit your dentist.
• Continue flossing all teeth, especially the back teeth.
