I went through various other options before settling on this one, and I didn’t regret it at all! The machine is really awesome, it’s super fast! I have no opinion at all about games, but I do use locally deployed LLMs; I’ve loaded it with up to 70B models and they run, okay, only at a few tokens per second! Anything up to 35B is piece of cake! Downsides: it heats up; with the models it easily gets to 80+ on the GPU, I imagine with heavy games it might even go beyond that! Be careful, the graphics card doesn’t have its own VRAM, the memory is unified, but from what I read in games it’s very decent! Also, the 1TB drive is small, but there was no option for more. Another thing, the memory is soldered, so there’s no upgrade, meaning there are versions with 128GB, but they’re insanely expensive. My version has Win11 Home; I also see versions with Pro, although I haven’t missed anything. Obviously it’s not for people who are used to larger screens; I don’t have a problem with that, I like the compact size. I use the recommended resolution of 2560x1600, but at 150% scale. Finally, keep in mind that the machine is not a laptop, but a somewhat thick and heavy TABLET; its TOUCH screen contains all the electronics and you set it upright with a stand that opens and closes. When you go to lift it, you have to hold the keyboard at the same time, because it opens up! It doesn’t really make much sense to put it on a cooling base; if you just leave it on the desk with a USB fan blowing on it from behind and upward, that’s the best! The keyboard is detachable with a magnet, BUT BE CAREFUL IT DOES NOT work wirelessly!!! The feel of the keyboard is very good, better than other laptops I’ve had. Touchscreen yes, but I have a quirk and I don’t want to see fingerprints on it; there are styluses though, I’ll probably get one at some point. Finally, the ergonomics of the ports are not so good, the USB-C ports are high up, so I kind of prop up a docking station with a short cable I have so it can reach the ports. Also, the cable of the (bulky) power adapter that plugs into the machine is not USB-C, it’s something else.
