I replaced the 3700x with this processor so I wouldn’t have to switch to AM5 because of the cost. It’s an absolute beast, I don’t know what to say—it doesn’t break a sweat. It’s the best option for anyone who doesn’t want to spend a fortune switching to AM5

For me, the best processor you can put in an AM4 system, with hardly any competition. A very significant upgrade and an excellent choice for gaming, especially for those who want to keep their AM4 platform without having to change their motherboard and RAM. It was also a big plus that this version included both a thermal pad and thermal paste, so you can choose which one you want to use. So far, it has been working flawlessly and I’m completely satisfied.

It loses 1 star because it is more expensive than the 7800X3D (they’re banking on DDR5 being expensive), and another star because I’ve heard X3Ds (this one definitely does it) hit 85–90°C for a very short time as soon as they’re under load, then cool down very quickly with good air cooling. I’ve had it for 3 months. Overall, I use my PC for a lot of tabs, Discord, and the occasional game. I also bought an RX 9070 with it, but for now I’m playing CS2 and Hogwarts Legacy. I wanted the best AM4 CPU so I could stick with DDR4. I can’t really judge performance; I haven’t had any stuttering and get plenty of FPS, but I think nowadays none of the CPUs stutter—the differences are in the FPS they deliver in games.

I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 1600AF to this processor on an MSI B450 A Pro Max motherboard after updating the BIOS to the latest version available. Since I had 48 GB of G.Skill Aegis RAM from 2 different kits, they were running at 2666 MHz with the 1600AF stably and with looser timings than the factory ones. With the 5800X3D I managed to run them at 3000 MHz, which is their limit in XMP. I paired it with an Arctic Freezer 36 Black and without undervolting I see maximum temperatures of 75 degrees while playing Witcher 3 and idle temperatures of 40 degrees and sometimes 36. Also, the BIOS boot time dropped from 17 sec to 10-11 sec, which means that memory training is done faster.

It is the best processor on AM4 for modern games because of the 3D Cache. However, you should know that for older games, a processor with a higher frequency, without such a large Cache, may perform better.
It goes without saying that for tasks related to Editing, not that this particular one is not good, it is worse than processors of the same generation with more cores, such as the 5900X, etc.

For maximum performance and low temperatures, optionally you can, from your motherboard's BIOS, set the All core Curve Optimizer Magnitude to Negative 30. In other words, you apply a lower voltage to the CPU, it senses less heat and may keep its clocks higher for longer. Usually with this setting, 5800X3D owners do not encounter stability issues.

Words are unnecessary for this MONSTER! As the owner of an AMD 2600X with a GTX 1080 Ti, I wanted to make a small upgrade and bought this processor. Then I realized how well the GPU can perform, since now nothing is holding it back. There is a huge difference between playing at 80fps with stutters and 80fps without stutters.. Flawless in 1% and 0.1% lows.. it eliminated them all! I have paired it with an AIO Kraken 120 and gave it an undervolt of -30mv... also, after so many years my RAM finally managed to be stable at 3200mhz since the previous processor couldn't handle it! The 5 stars are far too few for this processor!

  • For me, the best processor you can put in an AM4 system, with hardly any competition.

  • It loses 1 star because it is more expensive than the 7800X3D (they’re banking on DDR5 being expensive), and another star because I’ve heard X3Ds (this one definitely does it) hit 85–90°C for a very short time as soon as they’re under load, then cool down very quickly with good air cooling.

  • I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 1600AF to this processor on an MSI B450 A Pro Max motherboard after updating the BIOS to the latest version available.

  • It is the best processor on AM4 for modern games because of the 3D Cache.
