It reaches up to 480°C and that's enough, it also has some sensor in the base and it detects when you put it down so the temperature drops and it turns off safely; then as soon as you pick it up, it turns back on and in 10 seconds it has reached 450°. The base is small but quite useful; also, it comes with a strange iron piece inside that you clip onto the base to place the 3 tips it has.
