Amazing book by an excellent author! I read it very quickly because I didn't want to put it down! Contemporary, modern, with language that we all use and hear. A depiction of today's sad Greek reality regarding the pursuit of power, hypocrisy, but also the need for truth and humanity.

Product report

Description & Specifications

Nominated for the readers’ choice Skroutz Book Awards 2026.

The protagonists: Alkis and Stratos. Two boys, one from the top, the other from the bottom. They first met at Athens College. The photogenic scion of a right-wing political dynasty and the son of a left-wing village schoolteacher. One had every weapon except his wits; the other had nothing but his wits. A childhood friendship that turned into a ruthless struggle on the road to power.

Soundtrack: A children’s song: “Let’s see who, who, who will get eaten?” Who do you think it will be?

The Co-Protagonists

Three young women trying to find their place in this male-dominated world of the media and politics. And a Greek mother who, for her son, devours everyone – including her son.

Time

Downhill. From the triumph of PASOK to the humiliation of the economic crisis. The period that incubated the eggs of the “monsters” that take center stage.

The Genre

A novel about our political-social-economic-emotional decline. Everything is our homeland, these and those, and the other things we carry in our heart that is gradually becoming heartless. It also serves as a guide for aspiring far-right leaders.
