Almost a perfect shoe. There is one problem, though, and it’s not negligible or minor, as others say. The price, dear runners, is EXTREMELY high! The Evo SL is more or less suitable for everything to the same degree—some things better and some worse—but for most runners it is more useful... Compared with traditional (non-plated) shoes, which 99% of us runners wear, the Evo SL is better for distances up to 20 kilometers (clearly better for distances up to 10), because it has a foam that is at least a little more responsive. The Megablast is clearly much better for distances over 20 kilometers, on the one hand because it has better cushioning, and on the other because it offers better balance as a shoe, so your legs get less tired—and you can feel that over distances exceeding 20 kilometers.

In general, I think it’s fair to say that the Megablast is the best marathon shoe of all time for everyday runners, for “mere mortal” athletes, and for ultra distances. But not for every distance. Based on reviews and lab testing, there are better non-plated shoes at MUCH better prices for shorter distances. 1. The adidas Evo SL, which still hasn’t been surpassed, considering that its foam lasts at least 1,000 km, as does the whole upper, and the Boston 13 for long-distance training. 2. The Saucony Triumph 24, the Speed 5/6 or the Azura. 3. The Puma Velocity 4 (more durable than the Evo SL) and the Deviate Pure, which are top-tier for shorter-distance training (5 km).

NOW, if someone has no budget limit for running shoes and feels like it, they’d be wise to get the Megablast, since it’s probably the most well-rounded of all shoes. But 80% of Greeks, according to statistics, have a very tight budget and don’t have the time or energy to train for a marathon.

Conclusion: If we exclude the price, 1. A 10/10 shoe for marathons and ultra distances, or as a do-it-all shoe—although it’s advisable to have a rotation of at least 2 shoes anyway to get the expected lifespan, so the Megablast loses out here if someone rotates it with the Triumph and Velocity or Evo SL.
    2. 9.5/10 for anything under 20 km, since there are other do-it-all shoes that are better for athletes who run less than 20 km.

Taking the price into account, for 80% of Greeks it’s either unaffordable or they’d have to save for months to buy it. In my opinion, there are better options for that 80%, and these aren’t the only ones I mentioned. Taking the price into account, there are many dozens of shoes from many brands that can do an excellent job as value-for-money options at 1/3 or 1/2 the price, such as the adidas SL2, the ASICS Gel Excite 11, the Gel-Pulse 17 or the Dynablast 6, and quite a few others. Happy training, and let’s not let marketing consume us—instead, let’s eat up the roads in good health. Considering its price and value, I’d give it 2.5/5 (although that varies up or down depending on your wallet). Considering value alone, 4.8/5.

This review is about the colour: Green

After the rave reviews from other runners, my own experience as an overweight runner (about 5-6 kilos above normal) is as follows: It is a truly fast shoe, with a solid landing and a lightweight upper fabric that allows the foot to breathe. Super light, I did both interval runs (where you can really go all out without feeling anything) and long runs at 21 km. But! As a fast shoe, it is for paces of 6:30 min/km and below. When I started with a relaxed easy run at 6:30 min/km - 6:45, to see how it would feel, the shoe was stiff, with no response, as if I was landing on boards, so I thought "we're in trouble." Only when I started to pick up speed did the shoe begin to respond, give bounce, and generally display all the qualities other users mentioned. Especially for paces from 6:00 min/km down to 5:00 min/km, that's when you really start to enjoy it, while it also responds very well with stability at even faster paces (i.e., 4:50 min/km, I couldn't go any faster, I was exhausted). In conclusion, it is a shoe for advanced and fast runners, not for slow tempo, nor is it suitable for runners with a bit of extra weight, or runners who follow more conservative paces and want a shoe to enjoy their run.

Excellent shoes! I have run a 30k, I have done interval training at 4:30 and they are wonderful! Perhaps the top all-around shoe!

The weave structure allows continuous airflow, preventing heat from building up during exercise. The reinforced tongue and collar construction stabilizes the heel and instep, eliminating localized pressure points.

FF BLAST™ PLUS Cushioning Technology

The midsole is equipped with a greater volume of FF BLAST™ PLUS foam, which delivers high levels of shock absorption, low weight and an immediate response with every stride. The specially designed sole geometry facilitates a quick, smooth transition from heel to toe, providing a feeling of forward propulsion and reducing the impact forces on your joints.

AHARPLUS™ Outsole & Traction

The outsole incorporates durable AHARPLUS™ (ASICS High Abrasion Rubber), strategically placed in the areas subject to the greatest friction. This design extends the shoe’s lifespan by protecting it from wear caused by asphalt, while maintaining a high level of traction on both dry and wet surfaces.
