After three and a half years, I decided to replace the Realme GT 5G, which served me flawlessly throughout that entire period.

After an extensive search among devices from companies such as OnePlus, Motorola, Realme, Google and of course Oppo, I ended up with the Oppo Reno 15 Pro, which I consider one of the most value-for-money smartphones right now. In the price range around 600 euros, the truly serious options can be counted on the fingers of one hand (OnePlus 15R, Realme GT 7, Motorola Edge 70 Pro and Google Pixel 10), all of which crossed my mind as possible choices. In the end, however, Oppo’s proposal won me over.

Taking it out of the box and holding it in my hands, I immediately realized that Oppo has done an excellent job with the build quality. The device is solid, while at the same time it sits perfectly in the hand thanks to the 6.3-inch display, a size I consciously chose for usability reasons.

The display, from a technical standpoint, is quite close to that of the Realme GT 5G I had (AMOLED, 120Hz, 10-bit). It has slightly higher resolution and greater brightness... On the Realme’s display I had a small difficulty reading under strong sunlight. By contrast, on the Oppo’s display I did not notice a similar issue, as the content remains readable even in bright sunlight, offering a clearly more comfortable user experience.

One of the first things I tried was, of course, the camera. Here my impressions were mixed, and I will explain why. The camera’s basic mode did not satisfy me to the extent I would have expected... Even though I turned HDR off, the photos were still oversaturated and not particularly pleasant visually. I don’t know whether this is a bug on my own device or simply how Oppo’s processing algorithm works... Here I should clarify that all the photos I took in which I noticed this behavior were taken indoors, with lighting from a simple room lamp. In an outdoor environment, under natural light and good lighting conditions, I did not observe any similarly strong processing from the camera software. The photos retained a more natural rendering and a balanced result.

For those who prefer to have full control over the image without strong вмешательство from the software, there is always the PRO mode. There I encountered absolutely no problem, as the final result was essentially identical to what I saw in the screen preview: natural photos, with realistic colors, plenty of detail and no software intervention.

I haven’t shot any video yet. When I do, I will come back to add a supplementary review.

The device’s sound also left a very positive impression on me. The stereo speakers are very loud and high quality, with strong bass, excellent clarity and not a trace of distortion even at maximum volume.

There isn’t much to say about ColorOS. After all, it was one of the main reasons I chose the Reno 15 Pro. The operating system is extremely smooth, full of useful and well-designed customization options, offering a very pleasant user experience.

The 512GB capacity is more than enough, the battery for my usage proved more than satisfactory (it easily lasts me 1.5 days) and charging is fast enough!

The MediaTek Dimensity 8450 may not be a performance “monster,” nor belong to the Snapdragon 8 Gen series, but it is perfectly capable for everyday use. So far I have not noticed the slightest stutter or delay, and it responds flawlessly to everything I have asked of it.

Although I no longer play particularly demanding games on my phone, I decided to install Alien Isolation from the Play Store (which I had purchased earlier), solely to see what this particular processor can actually offer in practice.

I played with the graphics setting on Graphics and not on Performance, and for as long as I was playing I did not notice any particular stutter or any annoying drop in performance.
Of course, after quite a while the device temperature rose, which I consider completely normal, since this is a particularly demanding title that makes full use of the processor’s capabilities.

But because, above all, every smartphone is a means of communication, it is worth mentioning the excellent call quality as well. Mobile signal was perfect wherever I was, and both I and the people I spoke with could hear each other crystal clearly, with absolutely no problem.

Overall, I have been very satisfied with my purchase, which is why I gave it 5 stars in the review. Nevertheless, if Skroutz allowed half-star ratings, I would probably have chosen 4.5/5, exclusively because of the camera’s behavior in basic shooting mode when lighting conditions are not ideal...

Finally, I should mention that the Oppo Reno 15 Pro comes with a pre-installed screen protector film and a charging cable. The charger, unfortunately, is not included in the box and must be purchased separately. The original Oppo 80W SUPERVOOC charger costs about €40, for anyone who wants to take advantage of the maximum charging speed.

Also, no protective case is included in the box. Therefore, if you don’t want your new device to get scratched (like me), you will need to buy one separately. Just keep in mind that the available selection at the moment is relatively limited and you may need to do a bit of searching

The device is far above my expectations, and I don't understand why it hasn't become so popular in the price range it is in at the moment.
1) The cameras are top-notch in my humble opinion, and combined with the built-in AI it has, you can see the detail.
2) The software is indeed very manageable; you can do whatever you want with it, tweak it, etc.
3) Build quality: you have to see it up close to feel how well it is made; whatever I say, you won't feel it - it's available at Public, that's how I was convinced.
4) I didn't expect it, but the videos are unexpectedly good, reaching iPhone levels (also a very good microphone).
5) The amazing thing is that it combines the two worlds in a very balanced way, as you get a look and size that reminds you of an iPhone, resolution, price, screen, shape that also reminds you of an iPhone, but with Google's built-in AI everywhere (everything you find on a Pixel - object removal from photos, fast AI search, AI enhancement and editing, etc. etc.), amazing customization, and on top of that it also gives you 512 GB and a huge battery.
I don't think there is a better deal on the market overall. A premium value-for-money device.

On the negative side:
1) The variety I find for cases is clearly smaller than on other models (look to see what cases are available)
2) I currently have it without a case and it heats up when I have data, cameras, hotspot and multitasking on, to the point that I feel like something might happen to it (although I read that all phones in the upper category heat up a lot). The comments say that with a case you don't notice the heat.
3) The battery, although huge, drains faster when you use the cameras to the fullest - probably logical based on the results they offer.
In any case, it easily lasts 1 day; by halfway through the second day it needs charging in my hands.

I would recommend it to someone who wants to spend half the money of a new iPhone but still have a real camera and everyday experience. If you're near a store that has it on display (e.g. Public), go see it. If you don't care about the camera, I don't think there is generally a reason to go for something at this price. If you're interested in the absolute flagship, I don't think the processor is in that category - not that you notice anything in day-to-day use.

One of the few "small" phones available in Greece if you want 6.3'' and GOOD cameras. However, today it is expensive for its Dimensity 8450 CPU (upper-mid range), but as we said... 6.3'' with good cameras. I've had the phone for a month.
- POSITIVES
- Huge 6200mAh battery life that easily lasts 2 days with heavy use (and 3 if needed). On the second day, I usually still have 25% left by night. I use it quite a lot all day (social, messaging, video, etc.), but I keep brightness moderate and usually use it on plain 4G (I rarely switch to 5G). I do "slow" night charging if that matters.
- Excellent, crystal-clear 60/120mhz display (no other options)
- Fingerprint sensor that works flawlessly (even though it is "optical")
- Speaker and earpiece with amazing sound fidelity, clarity, and definition across all frequencies. I was blown away! The volume is not huge, but the "clarity" is impressive.
- Excellent build quality. It doesn't get dirty easily with fingerprints, not even on the camera glass (I don't know how they did it, the cameras always look "clean").
- Powerful ColorOS software with many goodies and nice touches, but compared to MIUI it is better in some areas and lacking in others (for example, I am not satisfied with the default gallery app; it doesn't allow changing thumbnail zoom in all albums, only globally for everything together. Overall though it is good, and I disabled many things because with the wrong gesture it does things you probably don't want.

- CAMERA
Very good cameras, but NOT the best (the vivo x300 is quite a bit better, but where can you find it in Greece). It has 3 cameras that cover the entire useful range. For most people, the main camera is good and the telephoto is very good (okay, and the ultra-wide too, but only up to that point), with ideal ranges of X0.6, X1, X3.5 (intermediate X2, X7 crop mode).
Perfect "wide" selfie (0.6-1-2X).
Video is very good, with smooth lens switching during recording. It has a mode with dual recording front and back simultaneously.
However, it has basic weaknesses, such as the stock app NOT having RAW (!) Also, in high res you can't choose 200mp or 50 (1:4 binning) and it decides on its own. Even in auto it decides by itself what resolution the photo will have! In very good light, the main camera gives 26mp files, but as soon as light drops it goes to the default 12.5mp (it could keep 26mp for lower light; it rushes to 12.5 and loses useful information).
Colors are, I would say, over-saturated, with texture and sharpening a bit boosted (I've seen much worse, of course, but I would prefer it a little lower).
Compared with my old phone (top of its time and even today, the Mi Note 10, 108mp 1/1.32'' 27.5mp pixel binning 1:4), it CANNOT beat it in clarity and detail (true resolution) in pixel peeping, except when it gives 26mp, where they are comparable, although the default sharpening is stronger on the Oppo (and you can't change it). So, stronger sharpening and stronger saturation (on the Mi Note 10 you worked with RAW and controlled all that yourself, but the Oppo does not provide RAW!). It has better dynamic range and, of course, Oppo's color science gives more vivid, pleasant photos, and finally it has a much better "telephoto" than my old phone (it uses the very good Samsung Isocell HP5, which is also in the selfie camera as the same sensor and there it gives good results).
Portrait mode (pseudo-bokeh) is excellent! You can later change the f value (pseudo-aperture, i.e. how strong the bokeh is).
I installed a GCam that supports Leica profiles to see what we get from it. I haven't done systematic tests.
- Usage
It is a fast phone in daily use and you don't feel that it is not a high-end processor (it isn't the 9500 either, and the storage is UFS 3.1, which slightly affects performance, although transfer to PC is USB 2 and a bit slow for large files). Still, everything responds "quickly" and it doesn't heat up with the simple use I give it (social, video, messaging). Update: as it turned out now in summer with 28-30+ degrees ambient temperature, it does heat up, but all phones heat up in such conditions.
They say it is not for demanding games at maximum settings and there it may heat up, but I don't play games. I don't know more than that. It does support power delivery without charging the battery while you play, so it doesn't overheat too much and damage the battery.
- Other
It has IR (remote controls) and excellent signal on all BT/WiFi and mobile 4/5G
It supports 2 SIMs and/or one eSIM (up to two at the same time)
- Negatives
The box has nothing inside, not even a case or charger! Only a Type-A to C charging cable (be careful not to lose it, it is a special SuperVOOC cable with one extra pin compared to standard ones!)

I bought a fast charger (it has its own SuperVOOC protocol for 80W and needs a SPECIAL cable for the protocol). I generally do NOT charge it fast (slow night charging. It also supports PD-PPS 45W regarding open protocols.
I measured the battery at exactly 6200mAh (with the AccuBattery app). I hope it keeps its capacity over time.

For the price I got it on sale, at €640, it’s more than a steal. I’ve owned it for about 40 days.

It really does have a very good battery that doesn’t let you down.
Its speaker is truly next level, you can hear the low frequencies very well and it doesn’t “peak” at all when you turn it all the way up (you get what you pay for).

Its screen has very good PWM, around 2800Hz I think, and that makes my eyes not sting or hurt from flickering. I finally found a phone where even at low brightness the screen doesn’t tire my eyes. If you’re also sensitive to flickering, I think I’ve found your next phone.

The only negative I’d mention is that it doesn’t have an audio jack for wired headphones.

The video is top-notch, a very strong point.
It has very fast fingerprint scanning.
Don’t put on a privacy protection screen protector, the fingerprint scan won’t work well (I tried it).

Another very strong point is that it has open connectivity with other ecosystems (unlike some other companies......), as you can send files to Mac and iPhone very easily via the O+ Connect app. You feel like you have AirDrop without Apple’s restrictions! Well done OPPO!

As for the camera, it has two main modes (it has others, but these stand out): Pro, which doesn’t interfere with the photo, and the normal one, which after taking the shot automatically applies an algorithm and improves the colors and HDR with AI.
Also, if you want a compact phone (like me) and you like everything I described, this is it!

Edit: After some iPhone users tried it and compared it in front of me with their own iPhones (mainly iPhone 16 Pro Max), I’ve heard very good feedback. Take that as you wish!
