An ocean tugboat built at the Ateliers et Chantiers de France in Dunkirk for the Société de Remorquage et de Sauvetage du Nord, the JEAN BART was launched on February 25, 1956. Equipped with two Werkspoor diesel engines of 1250 HP each, both on the same drive shaft, it was, at the time, one of the largest ocean tugboats in Europe. After being decommissioned in Dunkirk in January 1965, it was sold to the Netherlands in July of the same year and renamed The Utrecht. In 1977, it began a third life in Greece under the name Kriti. In 1993, it departed for Honduras, where it would finally be permanently retired from service.
