The Bristol Beaufort is a British medium-range bombers and torpedo aircraft, made entirely of metal. The airplane was designed for coastal command in 1936, and its prototype flight took place on October 15, 1938. In total, only two versions of the aircraft were produced: Mk.I (955 units) and Mk.II (450 units).

Since the aircraft was intended for coastal operations, a buoyant chamber was installed at the bottom of the fuselage, extending buoyancy in case of being shot down over the sea. The aircraft was also equipped with the necessary equipment for ditching, including a life raft.

After the outbreak of the war, the aircraft was also fitted with radar, which increased its effectiveness in submarine patrols. Bristol Beaufort aircraft conducted operations to hunt enemy waters and patrolled shipping routes in the Atlantic, North Sea, and the English Channel.
