Pillitteri Estates Winery is a family business located in the Niagara region of Canada. It was founded by immigrants who came from Sicily in 1948 and has been involved in fruit cultivation ever since. In 1988, the company began producing wines from frozen grapes, quickly receiving positive reviews.
Production was officially organized in 1993, and today the Pillitteri family is one of the largest producers of icewine in the world, with varieties such as Vidal, Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc.
Icewine Vidal comes from frozen Vidal grapes grown in the Niagara-On-The-Lake area. The late harvest date allows the grapes to dry on the vines in the fall, while below-zero temperatures during harvest help remove any residual water.
