Humankind discovered Malifaux when the Great Rift opened in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They entered a desolate landscape… but within it, treasures awaited. Constructions, relics, and spellbooks quickly changed humanity and Earth forever. Wizards delved into necromancy, crazy with whispering voices urging them to push the boundaries of death magic. The fading magic of Earth was strengthened by the Soulstones: beautiful stones mined from deep quarries, each capable of storing incredible amounts of energy. Industry flourished. Then, everything collapsed!
Malifaux is a strategy game with miniatures set in a horror/steampunk atmosphere. Each player creates a team of 5-7 figures from a faction to build their army. A team consists of helpers and at least one master. The game involves resource management, as hands of cards are used instead of dice for resolving skill checks. Each check involves drawing a card from a deck and adding it to a figure's stat. Players can then use cards from their hands to increase the value. The highest value against an opponent's check wins. The turn system is integrated, with each player alternating turns between model activations.
Malifaux figures are 32mm "heroic" scale miniatures made from high-quality plastic.
