I took a while to get attached to the plot and the characters, but by the time I finished it I can say that I loved it and I want to read the next books in the series too. I read the second half in one day. You definitely go through various possibilities in your mind about who the culprit ultimately is, but from a certain point onward it becomes quite predictable.

A crime thriller with interesting characters and a strong social background, but it may not manage to maintain the element of surprise for long. The serial killer who murders women by copying unpunished femicides from the past is an idea that promises intensity and twists, but the plot is quite predictable and does not stray from the usual paths of the genre.
The fact that the killer leaves clues to lead the police to the real culprit from the past creates a somewhat abstract sense of 'directing' that, however, loses its plausibility over time. Especially the two female protagonists (Lieutenant Nora and private investigator Elpiniki) could have been more developed in terms of character depth, as their contradictions and psychology are not explored as much as the reader would like.
While the book has an interesting basic idea and strong moments, the easy predictability and the insufficient development of the heroines hold it back compared to the standards of the genre. It could have been more subversive and offered greater intensity and depth to the characters to fully justify its emotional charge and police plot.

The positives: The book is a page-turner! Very easy to follow and interesting until the end, with very good descriptions of the characters and the scenes! It's like watching a movie.

The negatives: There was no twist. Anyone with even a little familiarity with detective novels or movies can recognize the murderer before the middle of the book! (Still, it doesn't lose its interest though)
Personally, it reminded me A LOT of the Chestnut Man (I haven't read the book but I've seen the Netflix series) and I could consider the plot as a good adaptation with adjustments to the Greek context (since we don't make chestnut men here!) Meaning, the profile of the heroine, the murderer, and even the motive are the same!

Nevertheless, I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the next book by the author duo!
