I don't use it as a bread box. Bread keeps perfectly in the fridge. I use it as a box for shoe polish items. It fit perfectly on top of the shoe rack and looks like it was designed for that purpose. Of course, I placed it with the lid facing up. Regardless of that, it is beautiful but also delicate, meaning it will bend easily if you are careless.
