Nail files are essential for every nail stylist. There are many types on the market, made from different materials and shapes. The grit of the file is key to their proper use. The numbering found on files such as 80, 100, 180, 240 refers to the number of grit particles per 1 cm² of the file surface. The lower the grit number, the coarser the particles.

• Coarse: 80 grit - used for removing edges and other elements from the nail plate. Mainly used by more experienced nail stylists due to their tendency to cause damage easily.
• Medium grit: 100 grit - the most commonly chosen classic nail files. Used for shaping the natural nail arch, forming extended nails, as well as for gel application.
• Fine grit: 180/240 grit - have many applications and are very versatile. Suitable for applying tips, filling nails with acrylic or gel, as well as shortening and smoothing natural nails.
• Buffers: Grit above 300 - polishing levels that give shine and gloss to natural nails. Used for finishing the manicure, making it refined and more beautiful.

When using nail files of different grits, it is important to remember that the coarse grit is used first and the fine grit last. Only this sequence is correct.
