Soutzouk loukoum is a traditional sweet, widely produced in Komotini. It is distinguished by its soft and tender texture, sweet taste, and the fragrant aroma imparted by the walnuts and powdered sugar, which are added at the end of its preparation.

The preparation process includes:

• Processing whole walnuts, which are threaded onto a string one by one.
• Grinding the mixture with water and sugar.
• Immersing the strings with the walnuts in a cauldron, and hanging them on poles to cool and stabilize the mixture.
• Sprinkling the caramelized loukoum with white powdered sugar, creating a beautiful effect.

The loukoum acquires a refined amber color and is decorated with powdered sugar, offering a unique taste experience.
