Each player spends coins to select 9 cards from two open markets on the table (the Lower and Upper City), gradually creating a 3x3 grid of characters that interact with each other, activating immediate effects and end-game bonuses.

You must carefully manage your Keys to influence the Messenger pawn at critical moments, as this determines which characters are available for recruitment from the two different areas: peasants and nobles.
Proper management of Gold is equally important, so you can acquire the characters that best fit your strategy throughout the game. Choosing the right characters is crucial to maximize both their immediate effects and the points they will provide at the end of the game. Finally, their careful placement on the 3x3 board is the key to unlocking their full potential.
After all players have completed 9 rounds (that is, when each has 9 characters in front of them), the winner is the player with the most points in their tableau.
