The jewel of the Banfi family, Brunello Poggio All' Oro ("golden hill") is produced in the vineyard of the same name, which is located 820 feet above sea level and is particularly renowned for its favorable microclimate, on the southern slopes of Montalcino. It represents the culmination of Castello Banfi's pioneering research on Sangiovese clones, aiming to produce a Brunello of even more exceptional quality.
The wine is produced only in outstanding vintages with meticulous selection of the harvested grapes. It ages for at least five years, of which at least 2.5 are spent in small and large French oak barrels, and is bottled in the 6th year after harvest.
An especially elegant Brunello, with a complex personality expressed on the nose with aromas of black fruits and spices, accompanied by notes of smoke, violet, and chocolate. On the palate, it has a refined structure and supple tannins in perfect balance with acidity and a long-lasting finish. It is suitable for exceptionally long aging.
Food pairing: Pairs with rich and complex dishes. Excellent with game, red meats, and aged cheeses.
