The HM-17 is a Bluetooth 4.0 module that supports the BLE 4.2 protocol and allows firmware upgrades with the current version V109/V110. It supports BLE5.0 upgrades and is compatible with HM-11 and HM-13 models, functioning as a direct replacement.
Key features of the module include:
- Master and Slave Mode
- Transmission Mode
- Remote Control Transmission
- Large Transmission Unit (MTU)/Packet
- Rich AT command control system
- Support for modifying service UUID
- Support for modifying communication mode
- Support for iBeacon
- Sleep and standby modes
- Extreme communication distance, up to 40-100 meters in an ideal environment
- Faster transmission speed, 2~8KB/S
- Most AT commands are compatible with HM-10 / HM-11
- Support for universal learning function, which can connect and learn other BLE modules of different commercial brands on the market (no password required)
Note that the differences with HM-10/11 are as follows:
- MCU: HM-10/11 is 8051 32MHz 8bit, HM-16/17 is cortex-m0 48MHz 32bit
- Bluetooth core version: HM-10/11 is BLE 4.0, HM-16/17 is BLE 4.1
- MTU size: HM-10/11 is 20Bytes, while HM-16/17 has a default MTU size of 256Bytes
- Speed: HM-10/11 approximately 2KB/sec, HM-16/17 approximately 3-8KB/sec
