Description

Nominated for the Skroutz Book Awards 2025.

A little rat who learned what it means to be real

Chloe lives in the Secret Lagoon beneath the houses; she is bright, talented, and full of kindness. But the more different she is, the harder it is for her to be accepted. In order to be liked, she starts to hide—and then to give away—her colors, until she is left colorless and alone. A story about being unique and not losing yourself in the process of acceptance.

This book is for you if...

  • Do you want a sensitive fairy tale about self-esteem and authenticity
  • You are addressing children from 6 years old, who feel they need to "be like the others"
  • You appreciate stories with intense emotional depth, even if they are dressed in bright colors and vivid images

What will it offer you?

A tender depiction of how easily we forget who we are when we place the acceptance of others at the center. Chloe shows us that what is precious is not to be liked, but to be true and to love that about yourself.

Inside the book you will find:

  • A chain of images full of color and emotion
  • A character who learns that when you give yourself, you must not lose yourself
  • A mirror-tale that speaks to children and parents
  • Rich illustrations by Little Miss Grumpy, enhancing the message

Nice illustration, nice message that it wants to convey to children, but we would have preferred instead of Chloe being a little mouse, for her to be a child, because as my 6-year-old daughter correctly observed, mice don't talk..! We read it and left it on the shelf..

It is a wonderful children's fairy tale. When I read it to my daughter, it touched both her and me deeply. Since then, we have loved it and read it every day. It talks in a very beautiful way about the unique beauty that each person has, and the value of not losing yourself to fit in with the crowd!!! It is worth getting!!!

  • I bought the book "The Colors of the Grass" for my 3-year-old son and I was truly excited. It is a very high-quality book, with a hard cover, large pages, and beautiful, comprehensible illustrations.
The text is rich, with plenty of words on each page, which greatly helps in vocabulary development. Although the recommended age is 6 years and up, my child also really liked it.
However, the greatest advantage of the book is its message. In a very beautiful and meaningful way, it conveys to children the message to always be themselves, not to change in order to be liked, and to choose friends who love them as they are.
Every picture and every page has real meaning. I believe it is one of the best children's books with messages of self-esteem and acceptance. I highly recommend it. If you haven't bought it yet, you should buy it!!!!!!
