Ammura is the new vineyard of the Tommasi family in Etna, representing their arrival in Sicily in 2022. It is located in Contrada Alboretto – Chiuse del Signore, in the municipality of Linguaglossa, covering 15 hectares of vineyards, some of which belong to the Tenuta Chiuse del Signore of the Bambara – De Luca family.
The estate is situated at an altitude of 570 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Etna Natural Park, offering a stunning landscape where the breath of the mountain meets the sea breeze.
Ammura Etna Rosso is made from the Nerello Mascalese variety, the most widely cultivated variety in the region, which is among the most emblematic varietals of Etna. However, it is known for its cultivation difficulties and is compared to Nebbiolo due to its late ripening, which usually occurs in the second half of October. Additionally, Nerello Mascalese has a strong sensitivity to harvesting and terroir.
- The bunches are long, moderately compact, and often characterized by protruding wings.
