The deodorant crystal (also known as potassium alum or astringent) is a natural and soothing deodorant, as it has antibacterial properties and acts as an antiseptic, preventing the multiplication of underarm bacteria that cause odor, without blocking sweat secretion by clogging the pores. Thus, it creates an environment on the skin to prevent unpleasant odors while providing a lighter and more natural feeling.
It is a natural mineral salt, safe to use as an alternative to hydrated aluminum chloride salt. The molecules of the deodorant crystal (alum) are not absorbed by the body, unlike aluminum molecules, which have been linked to various health issues.
The deodorant crystal, namely alum (astringent) and aluminum, are different chemical compounds, with distinct chemical formulas, different properties, and consequently different chemical behaviors.
