The deodorant crystal (potassium alum or styptic) is a natural and soothing deodorant, as it possesses antibacterial properties and acts as an antiseptic, preventing the multiplication of underarm bacteria that cause odor, without blocking sweat secretion by clogging pores. Thus, it creates an environment on the skin to prevent the development of unpleasant odors, offering a lighter and more natural sensation. It does not work by masking body odors like conventional commercial deodorants.
It is a natural mineral salt, safe to use as an alternative to aluminum chloride hydrate. The molecules of the deodorant crystal (alum) are not absorbed by the body, unlike aluminum (aluminium) molecules, which have been linked to various health issues.
