Description

Taboadella 1255 is a historic estate in Portugal with roots dating back to 1255. Its original use is confirmed from the 1st century when it operated as a Roman villa of the upper rural class, with vineyards and a wine cellar. The discovery of archaeological findings, such as a Roman wine press, is evidence of the oldest winemaking in the Dao region.

The name Villae derives from the Roman villa and reflects a form of organization that was fundamental to the Roman Empire. The strategic occupation included planting vineyards in conquered areas, offering cultural and territorial delineation, as well as revenue.

Villae is created from 4 native Portuguese varieties, each with its own unique character:

  • Tinta Roriz: offers structure.
  • Jaen: offers natural strength.
  • Alfrocheiro: offers minerality.
  • Pinheira: offers aromas of wood and forest fruits.
