The tzouras is a nocturnal musical instrument, an eight-string or six-string. It is considered a miniature version of the bouzouki, as it has a similar neck and headstock, but a smaller body, approximately twice the size of the baglamas. It is constructed from the same materials and with similar techniques as the bouzouki and belongs to the same family of folk string instruments, an evolution of the tambouras, which is considered a descendant of the ancient Greek pandoura or pandourida or pandourio.
