CECROPS WINES is located in Attica, in the area with the largest and oldest vineyard in Greece. This is the place where the vine and wine are connected to mythology, history, tradition, and the everyday lives of people.
The estate-owned vineyards, covering approximately 40 acres, were planted in 1957 by grandfather Philip. In 2020, the winemaker Christos Gikas took over to continue the family tradition by cultivating the vineyards in a goblet shape, dry-farmed, and with very low yields of 350-400 kg/acre. His goal is to highlight the potential of the indigenous variety of Attica, Savatiano.
CECROPS WINES, believing in the terroir of the area, produces not only Savatiano but also the aromatic white variety Malagousia and the ancient variety Mavrotragano, expanding its vineyard to Anavyssos, Attica.
100% Savatiano. Traditional white wine vinification: The must is separated and clarified by static settling, and the clear must is fermented with indigenous yeasts at a controlled temperature of 15 ˚C. It is kept on fine lees for 3 months.
