Description

Infant inhalation chamber mask

The infant inhalation mask and spacers are plastic devices in the shape of a tube with chamber masks at one end. At the other end, there is an opening for applying the inhaled medication. They make the administration of inhaled medications in aerosol form easier and more effective, allowing a greater quantity to be deposited in the lungs. Their use is simple.

Additionally, they appear to be equally effective as nebulizers in dealing with asthma exacerbations. They help limit both local and systemic side effects from high doses of inhaled corticosteroids (cortisone) by reducing the amount of medication deposited in the oral cavity and throat, as well as its absorption into the systemic circulation.

How spacers and infant inhalation masks work

The inhaled medication is released inside the spacer; the particles circulate within it and can then be taken in directly through inhalations. Spacers have a one-way valve that allows exhalations through the mask or mouthpiece without losing any amount of the medication, while ensuring the patient can breathe comfortably.

Who should use spacers and infant inhalation masks

  • All individuals using inhaled corticosteroids as prophylaxis regardless of age
  • Children over 8-10 years old who have difficulty synchronizing the timing of inhaler activation with inhalation
  • All children younger than 8-10 years old taking inhaled medications

Children older than 8-10 years may take inhaled bronchodilators without a spacer. In general, the ability to synchronize the release of medication with deep and prolonged inhalation cannot be determined by age but is an individual matter.

Infant inhalation mask features (Age 0 - 3)

Made of soft material, ergonomic profile, with a safety exhalation valve ensuring complete CO2 exhalation, adaptable to FISIOCHAMBER and aerosol devices. In individual packaging.
