First of all, I want to say that as soon as I received the package and lifted it, I thought they forgot to put the shoes inside. So light.
As a holder of the novablast 4, I will compare more to give an image to the followers of the novablast series. The exclusive use of the purchase was for running.
The 4s were my first running shoes, and I enjoyed them immensely. 1300 km, but after 800-900 they had "settled."
Since usually running shoe companies give about 600 km, durability is an issue; otherwise, I would wear them for walking as well.
It is the most VFM running shoe. (€142). It works for all types of running.
Ideally, I would buy the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 for intervals, the New Balance More for recovery runs, and the novablast for tempo runs.
With the novablast, you go on long runs effortlessly with so much foam it has. You maintain pace, and the intervals go quickly. It "launches" you forward. Just like the 4s.
I wore them and immediately did a long 18 km run, and in between, I picked up the pace for 5 km to test them out. That is, I moved at paces from 4'30" to 6'30" (in between these paces are always my training sessions); I have no opinion on other faster paces.
It was a mistake to put a new shoe directly into a long run because it caused pain in my knee and ankle, but I knew that could happen.
As for the bounce-back energy and fit, I would say it left me with the same feeling as the 4s.
The jacquard fabric they have put on the upper part of the novablast 5 is very soft, while on the 4 it was stiffer, which may have dual significance for durability on one hand (the jacquard looks soft but thin) and also a soft feel and breathability of the fabric. I believe it breathes better as a fabric. I hope it proves to be durable as well.
After an hour and more, my soles "lit up," but this also happened with the 4s when they were still very new.
Once they "break in," I will return to the topic of durability and anything else I notice. I hope I helped!!!
Update 19/2/25
The shoes have broken in; I did the first 100 km. Although from 30-40, I think they were fine.
Compared to the Novablast 4, I feel more foam in the midsole (where the foot strikes). Not something very significant. It is an upgrade of the previous model that remains in the same philosophy of the novablast series. I am seriously considering purchasing the previous nova4 at the current price (€110) to split the km to get through the year, even marginally.
As a new shoe and now broken in, in intervals, the pace/km dropped by 10-20 seconds, which is a lot of time. It is truly a shoe that you enjoy wearing and running in. The fit is very good, from how it locks in the heel to the air in front of the toes. It feels like they were designed for my foot.
Personally, I have locked in with Asics.
As long as the company produces such gems, I will be there.

Excellent and ultra-light shoe, but it is unacceptable for a shoe costing over €130 to have the mesh on the upper part tear within 1.5 months without having been abused or hit anywhere, but only from the friction of the toes during movement.

In terms of durability, the mesh creases are terrible. The photos are after 2 months of use for jogging (about 90 km, not gym workouts where you stress the shoe in that area). It's the first time I've encountered such durability in a shoe costing around 150 euros. Also, the foot gets quite hot on the sole, there is not proper ventilation from below. Try something else, this is a very bad Asics.

for this much money, the shoe tore in 8 months on the top right and left. it has an amazing sole, very light for running and walking, you don't feel anything, but it has very thin fabric that tears easily. unacceptable for such a shoe. I don't run, only use it for everyday wear.

The quality of this shoe in terms of durability is actually worse than a shoe from Temu. In the same job, my previous Asics that I bought for 70 euros lasted about 4 years before they got holes. These didn't last even 6 months. Four holes in each, one side of the sole is worn out, causing you to step unevenly. As for the 'good grip', it lasted one week for me. After that, it 'flattened' as if you were wearing All Stars. No slip resistance as advertised. My adductors became like Roberto Carlos' from my daily effort to keep my balance and not have my legs suddenly split into some awkward ballet position. The worst purchase I've made in recent years. Anyone working in catering, don't be fooled and buy them. These shoes are for six months only and just for walking. Nothing else.

Amazing shoe, it really moves by itself! Whether on a tempo run or a long run (up to 20 km which I have done), I have not had the slightest complaint so far! I have had it for 6 months and have done 450 km so far on asphalt and mainly on tartan. Its pop has not decreased, nor its overall performance. It has not shown the slightest wear so far. All the others who had theirs torn and complain about their money, as they say, either were unlucky and got a defective product, or they simply do not take care of them and then blame Asics. And I read the same things about the Novablast 3, but I have had mine for 4 years with minimal wear, WITHOUT TEARS. In conclusion, if you take care of something, it lasts; if you act like a typical Greek, you blame others.

The shoes are terrible, in 4 months the upper part of the fabric came apart, they are not worth this money for any reason, let alone the good rating they have. After so many years I changed shoes, and I didn't get Adidas, and I deeply regretted it. Of course, I regret the money I spent!

I was a fan of this particular shoe until the novaplast 5 came out. The upper part of the shoe gets ruined within 2 months. It opens up and tears. I walk 6 to 10 km every day, 185 cm tall, 85 kg. I expected them to fix the model. I will not buy it again.

After 6 months of daily use, they tore. Whether that's reasonable or not, the price does not match the result.
They definitely have a very good sole, but even that, after daily use, your foot gets used to it and you don't feel a difference or relief.
Also, they do not support the torso well, resulting in back pain, especially if you have a problem.
In my opinion, get more affordable shoes with a medium sole, put in soft insoles whether from a well-known company or not, it will make a difference for the expected period the shoes last.

Very good shoe but completely unsuitable for overpronation. Since I don't run, I thought I wouldn't have a problem, but even for simple walking, such a tall shoe without arch support is uncomfortable and possibly dangerous. Don't make the same mistake I did. Review update 21.5.26. Unacceptable build quality, in 4 months the shoes are ready to be thrown away! Each one has three holes on the top and the soles have come unglued underneath! Unbelievable, it's the first time I've regretted my money so much and we're talking about light use and zero running! Truly shameful, I hadn't bought ASICS for 20 years and I won't for another 20.

What they offer you in terms of feeling while walking, standing, and the overall protection your foot feels, you simply won't find in another brand name at this price. However, there are questions regarding the build quality, with the side covering material tearing - opening up, as well as the sole, from which pieces start to come off extremely easily from the very beginning, no matter how careful you are.
I bought them for €134 in June and now in December, after not even half a year, they look as if they've been worn for 2-3 years...
They also smell bad even after a short time, something that didn't happen when I wore the Gel Kayano 32 (which also started to wear out relatively quickly...)

Quite soft with a nice drop without being unstable! It is a bit narrow in the toebox with low height for anyone who has a bigger than average toe. The downside is that after some kilometers it loses that magic energy return and "sits" relatively quickly. However, it remains a top choice for an all-in-one running and everyday shoe. Finally, dreamily light for the volume of its sole! 296g in size 47!!

Very comfortable shoe but what's the point when you spend €160 and in four months both have torn on the side at the same spot, which shows a defective product and not misuse, I was wearing them at home and the office, just so you know. After contacting Intersport they replied that they can't replace them because it's normal wear and that's how long these shoes last. Another bunch of scammers, no customer support at all. Stay away from both so you don't waste your money.

I come from shoes costing 55-60 euros maximum from Nike, so the difference seems huge to me, and indeed I have never worn a softer shoe in my life, the sole is everything... It's like stepping on feathers while with the others it was like walking barefoot on the street. I advise you to go to a cobbler and put a piece of leather in the front of both shoes so that the mesh doesn't tear, because from what I read this particular spot is very sensitive.

    Comfortable and lightweight.
After about 300 km of use on tartan, asphalt, and a bit of grass, they show no visible signs of wear.
They might be a bit tiring on long runs.
Dangerous on wet tartan or asphalt, they slip if you don't step carefully.
Under 100 euros, they are a unique opportunity, up to 120-130 they are a very good choice.

    Update 25/03/26
I use them alternately with Adidas adizero sl2, they are more comfortable and stable at fast paces, but I think they get harder sooner. Around 600 km, I started to feel a difference, while with the sl2 I got close to 1000 km.
I haven't noticed anything special regarding external wear on the fabric, but I use them exclusively for running (tartan 50%, grass 10%, asphalt 35%, dirt road 5%).

    Update 01/06/26
Close to 800 km, they started to tire me. Also, small tears appeared on both shoes at the point where the toes bend (that is, where the shoe folds). Very little wear on the sole.

Coming from mid-range shoes with low stack height and mild drop (which I even wore without an insole for better ground feel), I struggled to get used to them. At first, I only wore them for running (I didn't even want to walk in them because they seemed quite unstable and soft), but being a heavy athlete, as soon as the shin splints started hitting, that's when I realized the difference... The only remark is the toe box, which could be a bit wider for a more natural stride, greater engagement of the small foot muscles, and less load on the shin. As for the size, my foot is 26cm and for sports shoes I always choose ones with a 27cm internal length, which in my case corresponds to 42.5 (while for everyday 'boats' like Nik3 court vision, for example, I might wear 26.5 or 42).
