The skeleton of the Therizinosaurus was discovered in 1979. Like most living animals, they devoted as much time to feeding as to any other activity. It often reared up on its hind limbs, hooking branches bearing foliage with its forelimbs and pulling them to its mouth.
The ability to forage at high levels allowed the dinosaur to occupy an ecological niche inaccessible to all modern herbivorous animals.
