Unmatched Performance with Cortex-A76 Processor
The Raspberry Pi 5 offers more processing power than ever before, leaving every previous generation behind. At its heart lies the advanced Broadcom BCM2712 SoC, which integrates a 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A76 processor clocked at 2.4 GHz. Thanks to the new architecture, larger cache memory (4x 512 KByte L2 and 2 MByte shared L3), and faster bus, the Raspberry Pi 5 is up to 3 times faster than the Raspberry Pi 4, making multitasking and running demanding projects smoother than ever.
Ultra-fast LPDDR4X Memory & New Custom I/O Chip RP1
This version is equipped with 2 GB LPDDR4X RAM, which operates at the extremely high frequency of 4267 MHz, offering enormous bandwidth for data transfer. One of the greatest innovations in the board's design is the integration of the Raspberry Pi silicon RP1. This is a custom I/O controller chip developed in-house by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, which is exclusively responsible for managing advanced input and output capabilities, offloading the main processor.
Upgraded VideoCore VII Graphics & Dual 4K Output
The visual experience is radically upgraded with the new VideoCore VII graphics card clocked at 800 MHz, which supports modern APIs such as OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2. The micro computer features 2 micro-HDMI ports, allowing simultaneous connection of two monitors with top resolution of 4K at 60Hz (4K60 decode) and HEVC/H.265 support. At the same time, the old MIPI camera/display ports are replaced by two advanced 4-lane MIPI (DSI/CSI) buses for dual camera or display connection.
Integrated PCIe 2.0 & Innovative Hardware Features
For the first time in the company's single board computer history, the Raspberry Pi 5 introduces features that users have been requesting for years. It includes a 1x PCIe 2.0 interface, which allows the connection of high-speed external peripherals, such as M.2 NVMe SSDs for lightning-fast booting. Additionally, it incorporates a physical Onboard power button (On/Off) for easy power management, as well as a real-time clock (RTC) with a dedicated battery connector to maintain the time even when powered off.
Full Gigabit Ethernet Networking & High-Speed USB 3.0 Ports
The connectivity of the micro computer meets every modern networking and prototyping need. It features dual-band IEEE 802.11ac Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 with BLE support, and a Gigabit Ethernet port that supports the new PoE+ (Power over Ethernet) standard. In terms of peripherals, it is equipped with 2 USB 3.0 ports supporting transfer speeds up to 5 GBit/s, 2 USB 2.0 ports, as well as a high-speed microSD slot that supports the SDR104 standard for faster card reading.
Standard GPIO 40-Pin, Dedicated UART
The Raspberry Pi 5 retains the classic and valuable Standard 40-pin GPIO header, ensuring full compatibility with thousands of HATs, sensors, and electronic components for prototyping. For developers, it now includes a dedicated UART connector for debugging without occupying the GPIO pins, as well as a dedicated fan connector with PWM support for active cooling. The device is powered via a USB-C port (5 V / 5 A with USB PD required for full utilization).
