The clock in the narrow hallway tells me I have fifty-two minutes to make a sixty-eight-minute trip if I want to arrive on time to the party. I search my bag again, but my keys are not there. I check various spots once more. On the nightstand? No. In the bathroom? I looked there a little while ago. In the kitchen? Maybe.

I'm about to turn that way when I hear a metallic jingle behind me. "Are these what you're looking for?" A wave of contempt tightens around my throat as I turn and enter a living room so small that the five ancient pieces of furniture – two tables, an armchair, a sofa, and a chair – are squeezed together like sardines in a can. The fleshy mass sprawled on the sofa shakes my keys in the air. I sigh angrily, and he smiles while pushing the keys under his greasy tracksuit.

"Come and get them!" Filled with despair, I run my hand over my perfectly straightened hair before approaching my stepfather. "Give me the keys," I demand. Ray looks at me with a lascivious gaze. "Damn, you’re on fire tonight. You’ve turned into a very hot baby, Rina. We should hang out sometime, just the two of us…" I ignore the thick hand that ends up on his crotch. I've never seen a man so desperately want to touch his own thing. He makes Homer Simpson from the famous cartoon family look like a gentleman.

"We’re never going to find anything, just the two of us! So don’t look at me like that and don’t call me Rina." Ray is the only person who calls me that, and I hate it. "Give me my keys now." "I told you to come and get them." Gritting my teeth, I slip my hand under his butt and search for my keys. Ray groans and writhes like the disgusting bastard he is until my hand touches something metallic. I pull out the keys and turn back toward the door.

    I liked both main characters as Sabrina is very dynamic and Tucker is a golden retriever boy, but I found their chemistry a bit weak.
    The stepfather subplot made me feel very uncomfortable, and I generally believe that many things in this book should have gone differently, but...
    Also, at times I felt there was some fluff that didn’t contribute to the plot, while there were moments that needed more development to give our story that extra something.

    However, it’s Elle Kennedy, and the woman knows the secret to writing in a way that relaxes you, so the scenes with humor and delightful lines are not lacking. The Off Campus crew appears in several scenes, providing moments that stick in your mind, while the ending of this book is sweet and beautiful.

    I will never regret reading this series, even if this book disappointed me compared to the previous ones. I consider the series one of the best in its genre.

    I recommend it if you enjoy good humor in books, if you want something to relax and get out of a reading slump, and I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for college vibes.
