Trumpeter: BMP-3 in Greek service in 1:35 scale (Cypriot National Insignia)

The BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle was developed in the 1980s and entered service with the Soviet Army in 1987. Serial production began the same year and continues to this day at the Kurganska Machine Factory. It is estimated that over 2,000 BMP-3s have been manufactured.

The vehicle is powered by a UTD-29-M 500 horsepower diesel engine and can carry up to 7 dismounted soldiers.

The main armament of the BMP-3 includes:

  • 100mm 2A70 gun
  • 30mm 2A72 automatic cannon
  • Secondary armament: 1 PKT 7.62 mm caliber machine gun
  • 1 ATGM launcher (anti-tank guided missile) 9M117

Assessing the BMP-3, it is noted that the significant advantage of the vehicle is its substantial firepower, surpassing its opponents from Western armies, along with its relatively high agility and swimming capability.
