The PS5 Pro is a more powerful and expensive version of the PS5, with advantages and disadvantages.
-It has more power than the regular PS5 and this is evident in most games, which look and run better after patches. If you are interested in things like 8K, Ray Tracing, ML upscale, and 120 fps, the PS5 Pro is for you. I would also recommend it as a must-buy for those who have PSVR2, as it runs most VR games significantly better than the regular PS5, which often seems to struggle.
-On the negative side is the hit or miss status of PSSR, especially at the beginning when there were games where the upgrade to Pro made them look considerably worse (e.g., Silent Hill 2) than on the regular PS5. Another negative is the removal of the excellent vertical stand from the regular PS5, which now costs €30 to buy separately, and in the box, they include some silly plastic feet that are not worth mentioning and break easily.
-Finally, as a neutral point, I mention the downgrade of the Blu Ray optical drive with its removal from the console as a standard feature, but at least it is available as an optional purchase. I recommend it as it is worth it in the long run and you don't lose your disc collection.
In conclusion, the PS5 Pro is aimed at those who want something extra in horsepower without having to buy a powerful gaming PC costing €1,200+.
***Edit 18/04/2026: A few weeks ago, the updated version of PSSR was released. The difference in upscaling quality is night and day; whereas games were sometimes worse than on the regular PS5, now the PS5 Pro directly competes with Nvidia's DLSS 4 and AMD's FSR Redstone on PC. Additionally, no patches are required for old games; the console has a system-level toggle to apply the new PSSR to all games that had the 1st generation PSSR. Finally, the PS5 Pro has a clear advantage over the regular PS5, justifying the higher price.

-Έχει περισσότερη ισχύ από το απλό PS5 και αυτό αναδεικνύεται στα περισσότερα παιχνίδια που δείχνουν και τρέχουν καλύτερα μετά από patches. Αν σας ενδιαφέρουν πράγματα όπως 8Κ, Ray Tracing, ML upscale και 120 fps, το PS5 Pro είναι για εσάς. Επίσης θα το πρότεινα ως must buy σε όσους έχουν PSVR2, αφού τρέχει τα περισσότερα VR games αρκετά καλύτερα από το απλό PS5 που συχνά φαίνεται να αγκομαχά.
-Στα αρνητικά είναι το hit or miss status του PSSR, αφού ειδικά στην αρχή υπήρχαν παιχνίδια που η αναβάθμιση στο Pro τα έκανε να δείχνουν αρκετά χειρότερα (πχ Silent Hill 2) από το απλό PS5. Άλλο αρνητικό η αφαίρεση του εξαιρετικού vertical stand από το απλό PS5, που τώρα το χρεώνουν €30 για να το πάρεις χωριστά, και βάζουν στο κουτί κάτι σαχλά πλαστικά ποδαράκια ανάξια λόγου που εύκολα σπάνε.
-Τέλος σαν ουδέτερο βάζω την υποβάθμιση του Blu Ray optical drive με την αφαίρεσή του από την κονσόλα ως standard feature, αλλά τουλάχιστον υπάρχει ως προαιρετική επιλογή για ξεχωριστή αγορά. Το συνιστώ καθώς συμφέρει σε βάθος χρόνου και δεν χάνεις την συλλογή σου από δισκάκια.
Εν κατακλείδι, το PS5 Pro απευθύνεται σε όσους θέλουν το κάτι παραπάνω σε ιπποδύναμη χωρίς να χρειαστεί να πάρουν κάποιο δυνατό gaming PC των €1.200+.
***Edit 18/04/2026: πριν λίγες εβδομάδες κυκλοφόρησε η ανανεωμένη version του PSSR. Η διαφορά ποιότητας στο upscaling είναι η μέρα με τη νύχτα, από εκεί που τα παιχνίδια κάποιες φορές ήταν χειρότερα από το απλό PS5 πλέον το PS5 Pro ανταγωνίζεται ευθέως το DLSS 4 της Nvidia και το FSR Redstone της AMD στο PC. Επιπλέον δεν απαιτούνται patches για τα παλιά παιχνίδια, η κονσόλα έχει system level toggle για να εφαρμόζει το νέο PSSR σε όλα τα παιχνίδια που είχαν το PSSR 1ης γενιάς. Επιτέλους το PS5 Pro έχει το ξεκάθαρο πλεονέκτημα απέναντι στο απλό PS5, που δικαιολογεί την αυξημένη τιμή.
