It held a lot of dirt, kids, I found mud and rust, maybe together. Without the filter, the refrigerator's water dispenser would fill with stones, sand, and a slight greenish/gooey substance within a week. With the filter, everything stopped, not even a trace of stones or gooey substance, and no odor. It's definitely worth buying.
