Watercolour paints are water-based paints used for painting on paper. They come in the form of dry buttons which, when wetted with water, produce ready-to-use paints almost immediately.
ASTRA school watercolours consist of high-quality, finely ground pigments bound with a water-soluble binder. In addition to pigments and binders, school watercolours contain certain amounts of fillers that cause the colour to become dull as it dries.
Because of this, by applying the paint thicker, you can paint with techniques similar to gouache and in larger dilutions, with techniques typical of watercolour. Watercolours can be used in combination techniques with ASTRA tempera paints, poster paints, and wax crayons.
They can also be combined with drawings in pencil, pen, and ink. ASTRA watercolours are intended mainly for children and school youths beginning their art education. They are ideal for teaching painting in schools and kindergartens.
Thanks to their shape, they can be easily transported, e.g. in school bags of students, and stored without fear that they will change their properties for a long time.
