The Dilophosaurus lived during the Early Jurassic Period, 200 million years ago. It grew over 6 meters in length and was one of the largest of its time. It had two distinctive head crests, which may have been used for display purposes.

History: The first remains of the Dilophosaurus were discovered by Jesse Williams in Navajo County, Arizona, in 1940. The dinosaur was officially described in 1954 by paleontologist Samuel P. Welles, who believed it was a species of Megalosaurus. Later, in 1964, Welles discovered new remains that showed the characteristic head crests of the Dilophosaurus.
