Behind the creation of ZOINOS WINERY is the restless spirit of the region's winemakers, who in 1954 founded the first winery in Zitsa. In 1974, the first modern winery in Northwestern Greece was established, and since 1972, the wines of the Zitsa viticultural zone from the white Debina variety have been legally recognized as Zitsa PDO wines.
Viticulture in Epirus, and especially in Zitsa, has a long history, and its wines have a reputation, as they cultivate three endemic and rare varieties: the white Debina and the red Vlahiko and Bekari.
The viticultural zone of Zitsa today covers an area of 2,100 stremmas, on a plateau with gentle slopes, wild flora, and natural herbs. The altitude of the zone ranges from 550-730m above sea level, with limestone and sloping soils facing the Ionian. The sea winds offer a mild winter and cool summer, which contributes to the production of wines of high quality and distinctive character.
