The Xiphon is a warship capable of operating in vacuum and atmosphere, with ancient origins, featuring many unique variations of the base design that have been identified in lost human colonies throughout the galaxy.

Strong and heavily armed, the Xiphon was primarily withdrawn from frontline service at the end of the Great Crusade – tens of thousands of retired aircraft rapidly returned to service when the Horus Heresy broke out.
