Purchase 11/06/2025, today I believe I can review it. The monitor arrived perfectly without any issues, dead pixels, etc., within the expected delivery time. I consider the price a bit steep at 218 euros; in my opinion, it should be sold for less than 200 euros. Fortunately, there is a review of the monitor on rtings (with a quick Google search for G5 G50D you will find it). Be careful though, because there is another model circulating as G5 G50D with different features.

In short, the monitor is very good, with nice features, menu options to adjust it to your liking, a nice metal stand that doesn't take up much space on the desk with all the adjustments for height, tilt, and pivot. Mine came with one cable in the package (I didn't notice if it was HDMI or DP), I just used the old DP cable I had. The image out of the box is quite satisfactory, many may not even touch the settings. However, this way you will have washed out blacks and high brightness (the panel is IPS so this is somewhat expected). My monitor had no issue out of the box with any red or blue tint on white or other colors, or at least I didn't notice it. In black scenarios, you will notice light bleed around the edges of the monitor, but this is also expected for an IPS panel. You will find more details about the image quality in the review on the rtings page, where you can also find an ICC profile for download which greatly improves the image.

I believe the monitor has no defects, apart from the expected issues of the IPS panel. My old VA panel monitor was amazing for blacks and colors, but it gave up after 5 years of use... (AOC Q27G2U). One flaw is that while freesync/gsync compatible does work, it disables manual adjustment of refresh rate and response time, so it goes to automatic, resulting in ghosting and smearing. I keep it off and set the hertz to 180, response time to FASTER (it's better than extreme), and with my RTX 3070 I don't get above 180 anyway, so I won't see screen tearing... A second flaw is the viewing angles; if you have brightness at max, all is ok, but if you apply the ICC profile or lower it because you don't want to burn your eyes, then the viewing angles are not good for an IPS monitor... On my previous VA monitor, I think the angles were better.

In general, read the review on rtings and follow their advice on the ideal settings for optimal image, and that will give you a good base to then tweak the settings to your liking. Remember that each panel may have its own shortcomings, so everyone may want different numbers for brightness/contrast, etc.

An important positive point I didn't mention above: IT DOES NOT HAVE VRR FLICKERING. That is, if you enable freesync/gsync, the image does not flicker, as happens with many other monitors.

So for 200 euros or less, the monitor is worth it; at a higher price, you might find better options. The only thing I hope is that it lasts over time and doesn't give up after 5 years, like my previous one did.

I ordered the monitor from a well-known department store chain, thinking it would be safe to trust a large store that appears to be an official reseller. The monitor had a dead pixel and, as if that wasn't enough, it also had what was probably a foreign particle between the panel layers (like a small hair about half a centimeter long or a line of many dead pixels). It was quite annoying, especially on a white background, so I requested a return. Quality Control is terrible. As a first impression, the monitor seemed very good, but I didn't have time to test it as I put it back in its box and returned it the very next day. I will update when I have news.

Update*: Official G-Sync support was added with the monitor's firmware upgrade to version 1004 (mine came with 1003 from the factory). For more details on how to update, check Samsung's website.

Update**: I just received the new monitor without dead pixels, etc. It really is a good monitor with a good refresh rate. Coming from 75hz 1080p, it's a very decent upgrade. There is indeed a bit of backlight bleed on blacks. Its stand is quite sturdy.

Some important things:
The monitor with its base, from the start of the SCREEN (not the stand) to the end of the stand is about 18 cm.
Another important thing is that SAMSUNG does not cover you if you have from 1 to some dead pixels under warranty (i.e., it is not a 0 Pixel warranty) which means in short that .... to be continued....

Ergonomics - external of the screen.
In terms of ergonomics, you will have no problem because everything is smooth. Raise it, tilt it, turn it, etc., comfortably. It comes with display port 1.2, hdmi 2.0, and of course the power cable. You need to first connect it to the external power supply and then to the socket, it will take up a bit more space but all good. The bezels are almost negligible which gives an exceptional aesthetic. For the OSD, it has a small joystick at the bottom of the screen that has all the settings you need such as black equalizer, LOCAL DIMMING (essential which many monitors lack for better contrast but increases blooming) as well as all the usual settings to make it super-duper. At first, it's a bit inconvenient but you get used to it.

COLORS - CONTRAST - VIEWING ANGLES - 1440p
The monitor comes semi-calibrated, saturated colors (you will definitely need to lower the "color" because the saturation is excessive) with unbeatable brightness of 430cd/m2 (if you are a vampire, do not buy it). Its SDR is about 99% which delivers nice vibrant colors with the contrast being very good for IPS standards with at least 1:1200 contrast, so even at night the blacks are quite good. Additionally, the screen has 178/178 viewing angles which means THAT THE COLOR DOES NOT CHANGE EASILY BUT THE BRIGHTNESS DOES. That is, if you look at 45 degrees, the brightness will change to the darker side which is more than I would like but the colors will be very satisfying. Now someone might wonder if the brightness changes, doesn't the color change somewhat as well? SPOILER ALERT: yes. Switching from 1080 to 1440p is significant and it is the best gift on these screens that gives immense awe and free real estate. Try through Windows from display settings to set the text to 110% without changing resolution or scaling so you can see it properly + enlarge some websites from 100% to 110% and vice versa.

RESPONSE TIME - REFRESH RATE!
The response time is quite good and will satisfy almost every gamer out there. It has 3 modes, standard, FASTER, EXTREME, the faster is just right giving very good timings in terms of input lag and response. Leave EXTREME alone because you will see shadows especially while scrolling. Generally, it has a bit of blur with the adaptive sync modes but it is stable at all frequencies. Finally, another TUMBOO! that some comment on is that 144hz and 180hz make no difference, it is almost negligible. SPOILER: Wrong. The difference is significant because it shows quite a bit in input lag but also in smoothness when you turn quickly or do 360s. (At least for me + if you get 160-180 consistent frames).

GENERAL THINGS
It has no speakers, it is FLICKER free (no flickering) and does not strain as much, freesync + gsync compatible, Vesa mount 100x100, HDR 400 is at the lower levels, it may please some but requires HDMI 2.0 which goes to 144hz.

WHAT I NOT LIKED
Well, the outer perimeter of the screen is darker compared to the interior, especially on the right where the brightness drops, e.g., from 100% brightness to 80%. At the same time, if you look from below, it becomes a bit brighter while from above it's the opposite, i.e., darker, regarding the vertical viewing angles. As for horizontal, towards the left direction, it darkens more than the other angles with the greatest angle tilt. Specifically, my unit has a bit of backlight bleed on the top left and IPS glow at normal levels that might bother someone but you get used to it.

+ Disable the ECO mode which is set by default.
