The Meriden TM-19 infrared thermometer measures forehead and ear temperature in 1 second. It also measures ambient temperature and the surface temperature of liquids such as water and milk. The backlit display and fever alarm make readings easy to see.
The temperature reading is indicated by different lights depending on the value: orange for 37.2°C–38.2°C and red for values below 34°C, from 38.2°C to 43°C, or above 43°C. For temperatures of 34°C–37.2°C, the light indicates a normal temperature. The device stores 9 consecutive readings and features an audible measurement-completion alert, a low-battery indicator, and automatic shut-off after 30 seconds. The sound and the °C/°F measurement unit can be turned on or off and switched, respectively.
