It’s awesome! The menu (GUI) has lots of options and is quite easy to use for a new user who doesn’t want to throw their money away on cheap Chinese relays. In fact, with the Shelly Plus Add-on, things get really exciting! Personally, after the firmware update, it also unlocked the Matter option for me.
I’ve installed it inside the heat pump to control the external circulation pump for heating and cooling. I connected two temperature sensors to the Add-on: one for the solar water heater tank (so I know the water temperature) and one for the buffer tank. This way, Home Assistant, which runs my automations, gets updated with the temperatures right away.
For those who value their privacy, the Shelly works 100% locally, even with the internet blocked (WAN Block)! It doesn’t perform pointless restarts of the WiFi module, unlike most Chinese WiFi relays, which “go crazy” when you cut off their internet access.
⚠️ WARNING: Most water heaters draw 20A. DO NOT connect it directly to a water heater! For this kind of use, choose a Sonoff Din Rail 32A, which switches both the Live and Neutral (L + N). Sonoff BASIC-1GSP
