The Meinl Sonic Energy Wind Gong is a handmade gong, crafted in China from a special bronze alloy. Also known as Feng or Sun Gong, it features an almost flat surface that allows its sound to open fully, offering a wide tonal range with great sustain. The lower tones dominate when you strike it gently, while with a stronger strike, the sound opens beautifully and produces wave-like tones.
The Kun represents the earth and all things of a feminine nature, it is a pronoun for mother and woman, and is one of the eight Chinese trigrams.
A mallet designed to match the size of the gong as well as a cover is included.
