The imaging performance is very high at every focal length and across the entire image area. When the aperture is open, there is a beautiful bokeh effect. With these and many other innovations, the 28-75mm F/2.8 G2 lens is the first choice for anyone looking to maximize their creativity.
The 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 is a fast standard zoom lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless system cameras and the successor to the popular 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD lens.
High resolution and exceptional image quality are among its most significant innovations. The new Tamron lens features a revised optical system but remains as compact as the previous model. Its optical structure includes LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements to minimize aberrations.
Spectacular optical performance for inspired creativity
The imaging performance is very high at every focal length and across the entire image area. When the aperture is open, there is a beautiful bokeh effect. With these and many other innovations, the 28-75mm F/2.8 G2 lens is the first choice for anyone looking to maximize their creativity.
High image quality with a compact, lightweight design
Improving the optical performance of the 1st generation A036 model, which had established itself for its exceptional image quality, was not an easy task. TAMRON redesigned the optical system of the 28-75mm F2.8 G2 from scratch, achieving the stunning performance befitting a new fast-aperture zoom lens.
The 28-75mm F2.8 G2 maintains the same lightweight, compact design as its predecessor while offering sharp performance up to the corners of the images, across the entire zoom range.
MOD 0.18m (7.1 in) at the wide end and maximum magnification ratio 1:2.7.
The minimum object distance (MOD) of 0.19 m (7.5 in) at the wide-angle end and the maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.9 achieved by the 1st generation model A036 were highly appreciated because they allow users to enjoy close-up photos that emphasize perspective, something we see only in wide-angle lenses.
The 28-75mm F2.8 G2 achieves a MOD of 0.18m (7.1 in) at the wide-angle end, 1cm (0.4 in) closer than the A036 model, with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7. This allows users to get even closer to the subject for wide macro photography, enabling a strong visual impact with the subject in large size while maintaining a wide view of the background in the frame.
Scratch and fingerprint resistance, with improved functionality and texture.
The Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 G2 lens features a fresh, new design. Some internal parts of the zoom ring and focus ring have been improved, resulting in smoother overall functionality.
The circumference of the lens barrel has been reduced to give the lens a contoured profile that makes it easier to hold. This creates a comfortable shape that fits comfortably and naturally in the hand.
Additionally, the surface of the lens's exterior is glossy black, much glossier than previous models. The improved abrasion resistance makes the lens barrel more difficult to scratch and more resistant to fingerprints.
High-speed and precise VXD linear motor focusing mechanism.
The AF drive system is equipped with a focus mechanism featuring a VXD linear motor. The AF speed is approximately twice as fast compared to the 1st generation A036 model. With reliable, ultra-fast focusing from MOD to infinity and excellent focus tracking, you are ready for the important moments, even when photographing fast-moving subjects.
