Description

Description

Designed to provide precise control of light and color, the Instant Film Camera Fujifilm instax mini 99 Black allows users to unleash their artistic sense and create unique images for a true analog experience. This new model from Fujifilm combines the nostalgic charm of physical prints with the flexibility of modern photographic techniques. Enhance your images using six available Color Effect settings or use the "normal" setting to render things as they are. There are also five shooting modes, including Normal, Indoor, Sports, Double Exposure, and Bulb, each contributing to further optimizing the camera for a specific shot and scene. If you believe a particular scene would benefit from additional lighting or shadow details, you can choose from five levels of adjustable brightness. Alternatively, leave the brightness setting at "normal" to keep things as they are. After taking a shot, images are printed on 2 x 3" INSTAX MINI instant film, which is sold separately.

Fujifilm designed the Instax Mini 99 with a zone focusing system that can be adjusted from 3 meters to infinity for landscapes, 30 to 60cm for macro, close-ups, and selfies, and in the standard mode from 60cm to 3 meters for everything in between. A manual vignette switch on the lens housing can be used to add a vignette, limiting the aperture for a more artistic look, and you can also change the tone of a scene by taking control of the flash functionality. Thanks to the two shutter release buttons, users can easily capture scenes in both vertical and horizontal orientations. A timer helps you create the perfect group picture while the mini 99's flash offers automatic mode, fill-in (the flash will always fire regardless of lighting), red-eye reduction, or the option to turn off the flash.

Review this product
  • Fujifilm Instax Mini 99. The upgrade to the Instax Mini 12.
I loved it. If the automatic brightness in the Mini 12's photos bothers you, then the Mini 99 is the next analog camera that gives you the same feel but more control.
The difference is that with this one you have control over the flash, you can add colors to the photos, and you can control the brightness of the image, something you couldn't do with the Mini 12 since it automatically photographs whatever it sees. Also, it has 3 settings: close-ups, normal, and landscapes. Its battery is lithium and it comes with a charger.

For its price, it’s not worth it because, essentially, it is an instax mini 41, which is about half the price, with analog effects and settings for flash and brightness, but without the mini evo’s screen, you don’t know what you’ll get until after you see the photo—either too dark (underexposed), or faded (overexposed)—and with films costing around €1.00 each and 50% of the photos being unusable. So far, I have used more than 50 films, with disappointing results, and as I said at the beginning, it’s not worth it.

An interesting and "fun" hobby, as many mention, but with the corresponding cost of the films!

A better option is an instax link printer and photos from your phone.

Also, something Fujifilm could have done is to integrate the screen functions into the effect and brightness setting buttons, which would have made the whole use and experience easier.

In conclusion, it may be a good and fun camera for experienced users, but for the average user, I wouldn’t recommend it.
